Introduction

Over the past twenty years I have begun to notice that my holidays are increasingly less about museums and more about things that I can eat or drink. Of course it didn't start out that way. I would go on holidays like everyone else but prioritise searching out the best restaurants, markets and local produce. Now however the food and drink has become the main goal. Pick somewhere. See what it makes or grows. Find out what we can visit. Go, eat and drink.

I thought it might be useful to share some of my experiences with the aim of saving you valuable researching time and also hopefully treat you to some ideas that you might not have found without me. It should come as no surprise that with our increasing interest in the provenance of what we eat that people should want to visit the places where their food comes from.

We will go beyond the vineyards and cellars, further than the central markets and passed the street food stall. We will find the mushrooms, the cheeses, the butter, the salt and more...

Along the way I will provide you with real photos and where possible links to the appropriate English versions of websites.
